Effective ERP Therapy for Building Confidence, Freedom, and Flexibility

I provide specialized, evidence-based therapy for adults with OCD and related concerns, including specific phobias and body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRBs), as well as eating disorders, including ARFID. Treatment is grounded in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and tailored to your individual needs.

My approach goes beyond simply talking about what’s keeping you stuck. We’ll actively work on changing patterns of avoidance, compulsions, fear, and other behaviors that may provide short-term relief but keep you stuck in the long term. Treatment combines structure, practical strategies, and compassionate support to help you build greater flexibility, confidence, and freedom in your everyday life.

I provide virtual therapy exclusively and currently work with clients located in Oregon, Texas, and Ohio.

About My Therapy Practice

Hi, my name is Shannon, and I’m a licensed therapist specializing in OCD and eating disorder treatment, with nearly a decade of experience working across multiple levels of mental health care. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with people experiencing everything from relatively new or mild symptoms to severe, high-acuity OCD and eating disorders requiring intensive levels of treatment.

My background includes working in residential eating disorder treatment, specialized OCD treatment, and virtual and outpatient settings. That experience has given me a unique perspective on what effective treatment looks like—and how important it is to receive the right treatment for what you’re experiencing. I’ve worked with complex presentations of OCD, eating disorders, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, compulsions, avoidance, food fears, and body image concerns, including clients who have previously tried therapy without getting the results they hoped for.

Today, my work is grounded in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Rather than spending session after session simply analyzing why you feel the way you do, we’ll pay attention to the patterns that are keeping you stuck and actively practice doing something different. I also incorporate principles from ACT and DBT when they’re helpful, while keeping ERP at the center of treatment.

I’m a big believer that therapy should be both compassionate and effective. You deserve to understand what we’re doing, why we’re doing it, and how it connects to your goals. I tend to be warm, authentic, direct, and occasionally funny (but maybe not according to my cat?). I’m not the kind of therapist who will silently nod for 50 minutes—but I’m also not going to throw you into an exposure and tell you to figure it out. We’ll approach difficult things collaboratively and intentionally, at a pace that challenges you without losing sight of the fact that you’re a human being, not a treatment protocol.

Most importantly, my goal isn’t to teach you how to eliminate every uncomfortable thought, feeling, or ounce of uncertainty. It’s to help you become more confident in your ability to experience those things without letting them dictate what you do next. I want therapy to help make your life bigger—not just make your symptoms smaller.

Outside of the therapy room, I’m a mom, a lover of humor, and an unapologetic animal person. I currently have six animals: two dogs and four cats. Depending on your perspective, this may make you significantly more interested in working with me—or make you question my decision-making abilities. Both are completely reasonable.

If you’re looking for a therapist who will take what you’re going through seriously without making therapy feel serious all the time, we might be a pretty good fit.
